Latif Abdul Wali has emerged as the NRM flag bearer for Mayor of Soroti City East Division, securing a commanding lead in the just-concluded party primaries.

According to results from the tally center, Latif polled 6,982 votes, representing 83%, defeating his only rival, Ramathan Bogere Wandera, who garnered 1,425 votes or 17%.

In the same division, the race for Directly Elected Female councillor saw Harriet Agwang declared the winner with 1,939 votes, accounting for 75% of the vote. Her opponent, Caroline Akol, polled 659 votes, representing 25%.

Meanwhile, in the Directly Elected Male Councillor category, George Wilfred Elapu clinched victory with 3,866 votes (62%), defeating Brian Mulongo, who scored 2,384 votes (38%).

Elsewhere, some candidates were declared unopposed, including Sellen Enabu Obone, who automatically secured the NRM flag for Mayor of Soroti City West Division, along with several other candidates in lower-level positions.

These results position the NRM flag bearers for a competitive general election season ahead, with voter dynamics already indicating clear support bases in the city divisions.
