JINJA - Edwin Lufafa has won the Jinja city NRM chairperson seat beating Faruwa Kitakule and Haji Mohammed Nkuutu.
Lufafa, who is the Jinja Northern Division MP hopeful, beat Faruwa Kitakule, who had the support of former Jinja West MP Moses Grace Balyeku and Jinja Sourthern East Constituency legislator Nathan Igeme Nabeta.
Before voting, all candidates engaged in a meeting with Jinja Resident City Commissioner Richard Gulume to discuss which candidate was to be supported for NRM chairperson and another for the vice-chairperson post, since the contention was between Kitakule and Lufafa.
The meeting was in vain as all candidates agreed to conduct the elections with their supporters lining up behind them.
Lufafa won with 54 votes, Kitakule got 31 votes well as Nkuutu got 11 votes.
Ismail Kiiza Kinyiri and Ronald Isiko pulled out of the race.
