📸 Insecurity in Katakwi is now history — Museveni

KATAKWI - President Yoweri Museveni has said that the National Resistance Army (NRA) and NRM government did their best to eradicate insecurity in Katakwi and the entire Teso region. 

He reminded the Katakwi residents that on several occasions, he camped in Katakwi at the border with Karamoja when the rest of the people were in camps. 

"I remembered the difficult days when this area was under insecurity. I camped near the border when people had fled to IDP camps, visited Ngariam after the massacres, and went to Achowa camp. All that is now history," he stated.

Museveni remarked as he addressed a mega rally in the district at Boma Grounds, where he was received by the district Woman MP and Vice President Jessica Alupo, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, among other leaders. 

He said that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) defeated the rebels, disarmed the Karamajong cattle rustlers, and removed 41,000 guns from them. 

Museveni told hundreds of his Katakwi supporters that the NRM's first contribution was peace and security. He said that because of the prevailing peace, people are now back in their villages.





Commenting on the government's achievements, the President said Katakwi has 550 villages, and 342 already have boreholes. 

"We plan to ensure the remaining 208 also get clean water."

He promised to extend piped water in Toroma, Magoro, Usuk, and Ongongoja counties.
