Incumbent Namayingo LC5 chairperson seeks third term

Sanya, who has already served two consecutive terms, is now seeking a third term to lead the district. Unlike in his previous campaigns, where he contested as an independent candidate, this time he enters the race under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Speaking shortly after his nomination on Thursday, September 4, 2025, Sanya expressed confidence in securing victory, citing his leadership track record, achievements registered during his tenure and the trust he has built among people.

He said his decision to contest on the NRM ticket is aimed at strengthening collaborations with the central government to attract more development projects to the district.

“This is the first time I am contesting under NRM. In the past, I stood as an independent, but now I believe that working with the government through the ruling party will help me deliver more services to our people,” Sanya said.
