As early as 8:00 am, National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters had started thronging Kololo Ceremonial Grounds for the NRM nomination rally ahead of their flagbearer’s nomination by the Electoral Commission.
From all corners of Kampala city, small processions already in festive mood, made their way to Kololo. They danced on top of cars, others drummed, others sang, while others ululated.
With each passing minute, the crowds grew larger. When the announcement of President Yoweri Museveni's nomination was made, the celebrations intensified further.
By midday, Kololo was filled with yellow as thousands of enthusiastic NRM supporters, dressed in party T-shirts, danced, sang, and cheered to celebrate their flagbearer’s successful nomination.
The festive mood turned the entire grounds into a carnival atmosphere, with party colours flying high and excitement in the air.
Popular musicians entertained the crowds with live performances, keeping the energy levels high as supporters waved flags, blew vuvuzelas, and broke into chants praising the President and the NRM.
The entire venue was transformed into a vibrant showcase of loyalty, unity, and celebration.
All senior NRM officials and party bigwigs gathered at Kololo, joining the mammoth crowd in welcoming their candidate. Supporters eagerly awaited President Museveni’s arrival to address them and officially launch his campaign.

President Museveni arrived at Kololo for the NRM rally after being successfully nominated by the Electoral Commission in the morning. He was welcomed with jubilations and cheers from his supporters, who had begun gathering at the ceremonial grounds as early as 8:00 am.
