Govt releases names of persons arrested during Kawempe campaigns

Over 20 civilians arrested during the Kawempe by-election campaigns will be charged with illegal use of military gear, the Government has revealed.
During the plenary sitting this afternoon (Thursday, March 6th), Gen. David Muhoozi, Minister of State for Internal Affairs, in a statement on the floor of parliament, tabled a list of 24 suspects whom he said were arrested during the mayhem on Monday in Kawempe, in Kampala.
During the session, Gen. Muhoozi who read out the Government statement about the incidences registered during the campaign rally in Kawempe also said "that working with the Electoral Commission, guidance will be given to all players regarding lawfully permissible conduct during the exercise.
