While addressing a section of ghetto members who converged at Kasokoso, in Nakawa division, on Friday, the in-charge of NRM mobilisation for Kampala, Maj. Emmanuel Kuteesa revealed that through Maj. Gen. Christopher Ddamulira and the State House Comptroller, Jane Barekye, have empowered all the ghetto structures with skills to ensure Kampala is taken over by NRM.
“First, these structures, through their respective leaders, will not end on mobilising support for our party, but will also help in safeguarding our votes during the elections, against the opposition elements who may wish to cause unnecessary election violence,” Kuteesa said.

Through Shafik Kalyango, as their National Coordinator, NRM says, they have uplifted the lives of many members who subscribe to the Ghetto groups in Nakawa, Kawempe, Kampala Central, Rubaga, Nansana, Kansangati, Mukono, Makindye Ssaabagabo, Makindye East and West, Kasokoso in Kira, Wakiso district, among other areas.
“We thank President Yoweri Museveni, who booted our SACCOs with financial support, and we also pledge to stand with him in the coming elections as a reward,” said Kuteesa.
He (Kuteesa) equated some politicians to Kibwetere, who lured people to sell off their belongings, promising to take them to heaven, and later gathered them in one area from where he set them on fire.
“Those mobilizing you to be involved in chaotic scenes are liars, if they insist on you, ask them to first return their children, whom they are hiding overseas, to come and be on the front line, instead of hoodwinking you into their selfish interests,” he said, adding that politicians vying for positions should stick to their manifestos.

On the same occasion, Kuteesa cautioned some politicians who have started a habit of misusing the National flag.
“As ghetto members, we have also decided to deploy our teams on ground to deal with anyone who will be found misusing our national flag or intending to be involved in destabilisation of peace in our country.”
Providing protection to all the NRM supporters and exposing some politicians who may intend to kidnap themselves and later attribute it to government, purposely to tarnish its image before the public, is yet another task so far added to the ghetto members as we head towards the elections.
According to Kalyango, they have also tasked their members to deal with anyone found defacing President Yoweri Museveni’s posters or threatening their supporters in any way.
Meanwhile, the Director in charge of the Directorate of Crime Intelligence, Maj. Gen. Christopher Ddamulira cautioned Ugandans against committing crimes during and after the elections.

“Uganda is for us all. If you want to be voted for, do it peacefully, other than using people’s children to help you drive your political agendas,” Ddamulira said.
On the other hand, Daniel Kananura, the NRM flag bearer for Kira Municipality Parliamentary seat, hailed President Museveni for saving the people of Kasokoso-Kiganda from being evicted from their land.
“Remember the president also promised a billion Uganda shillings to further boost the ghetto SACCOs, so, if you mess up in the coming elections, it’s you to lose, so, vote wisely if you don’t want to miss out on the fruits,” said Kananura.
He also hailed the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who played a vital role in reminding the president about the homeless people of Kasokoso Kiganda, until he made a positive response.
