A total of four candidates have been duly nominated to contest for the Hoima West mayoral seat, while only two will compete for the Hoima East mayoral seat in the 2026 general elections.

The revelation was made by Obra Atamba Tibahemuka, the Hoima city elections administrator, in an interview with Kabalega FM on Thursday (September 11) at the Albertine region Electoral Commission offices in Kijungu.

The four duly nominated to contest for the Hoima West mayoral seat are Robert Kyomuhendo Ruhiigwa on the NRM ticket, Julius Kyomuhemdo Bahemuka as an independent candidate, John Bosco Twesime on the NUP ticket, and Jimmy Ayesiga on the UPC ticket.

For Hoima East Division, the incumbent Bosco Muhanuzi Byabagambi has been nominated on the NRM ticket and will face Ali Babi, who was nominated as an independent candidate.

A total of 38 people were nominated for the city division councillorship positions: 16 on the NRM ticket, 3 on the NUP ticket, 7 on the PFF ticket, and 12 as independents.

For women councillorship positions, 29 candidates were nominated: 15 on the NRM ticket, 1 on the NUP ticket, 5 on the PFF ticket, 3 on the FDC ticket, and 5 as independents.

Up to 15 people were nominated for special interest group positions: 12 on the NRM ticket, 2 on the PFF ticket, and 1 as an independent candidate.

Obra Atamba Tibahemuka, the Hoima city elections administrator, revealed the exercise was successful.
