NTUNGAMO - National Resistance Movement (NRM) Women League Executives in Ntungamo district have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the NRM Party’s Presidential flagbearer, Yoweri Museveni and pledged to deliver a resounding win for him as well as victory for all NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming general elections.

Organised under the banner of the Ntungamo District NRM Women’s League, the more than 160 women leaders pledged to intensify the mobilisation of all eligible voters across all the district’s 34 sub-counties, declaring their rallying slogan as “All Women for Museveni.”

The women leaders made their pledge during a vibrant NRM grassroots mobilisation planning meeting convened by the Ntungamo District NRM Chairperson, First Lady Janet Museveni, at her country home in Irenga, Ntungamo district, on Monday.

The meeting drew together leaders of the Ntungamo District NRM Women’s League, members of the Executives from each of the 34 Sub-counties, and from Ntungamo Municipality.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Museveni, who is also the minister of Education and Sports, commended women for their central role in nurturing families.

She also hailed what she termed as the unmatched contribution to building and sustaining households as well as driving community development.

A release from her office states that the First Lady described women as the backbone of socio-economic transformation and true custodians of national progress, emphasising that national development and transformation begin at the household level.

She commended the women for their selfless service and steadfast leadership. “I want to thank you for the work you do every day—nurturing children, building homes, and leading communities—even when there is no facilitation. Yet you do it so faithfully and effectively,” Mrs. Museveni said.

The First Lady also took time to explain the Government’s development focus, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM), which targets household level transformation with coordination at the Parish.

Noting the uniqueness of PDM, she said, “I am not aware of any government on the continent of Africa that has deliberately mobilised public resources through the national budget and put such funds directly into the hands of families at Village level, but the NRM has just done that.”

Mrs. Museveni emphasised that when women are empowered socio-economically, families become stable, children are nurtured, and the nation develops.

As such, she urged women and youth to fully embrace and protect NRM programmes because they are designed to create sustainable prosperity by ensuring that all households become participants in the money economy.

“It is for this reason that women are a strategic priority for the NRM government,” she said.

She further defended the NRM’s economic reforms, contrasting them with earlier tax systems such as graduated tax and poll tax, which she described as unfair and not based on productivity.

Maama Janet reminded her audience that it is for this reason that the NRM government seeks to empower households to become creators of wealth, then the collection of revenue through taxes becomes secondary.

The Ntungamo District NRM Women’s League Chairperson, Peace Musiime, assured the First Lady of the women’s unwavering support for President Museveni and their commitment to mobilise all eligible voters across the district.

Musiime praised Mrs. Janet Museveni for her steadfast leadership and commitment to the people of Ntungamo.

She assured the NRM leadership that women across the district are organised, mobilised, and ready to deliver a landslide victory for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers.

“All women in Ntungamo stand firmly with President Museveni and the NRM. We are prepared to mobilise door-to-door and parish by parish to protect the gains of the NRM. Our slogan is clear: “All Women for Museveni,” Musiime declared amid thunderous applause.

The meeting concluded with renewed commitment by the women, youth, and community leaders to unite, intensify mobilisation, safeguard peace, and consolidate the NRM’s development gains over the years, as Ntungamo District positions itself to deliver a decisive 100 per cent vote for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers in the upcoming general elections.

In attendance were members of the Ntungamo NRM District Executive Committee (D.E.C.).
