Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag-bearer Nandala Mafabi has officially launched his three-month presidential campaign in Buikwe district, marking the beginning of his journey to oust President Yoweri Museveni through the ballot.

Accompanied by fellow party leaders and local FDC flag-bearers, Mafabi started the day with a mini rally in Nkokonjeru at about 10:30am where he pledged to prioritise improving citizens' financial well-being.

His campaign message, centred on the sloganFix the Economy, Money in the Pockets, promises to tackle poverty through targeted economic programmes.

Chatting on Kadodi music, the presidential hopeful then proceeded to Kiyindi landing site, where he was warmly received by locals who consider him one of their own.

“I have started my journey to the State House here because this is my home. I own a home and farm here in Buikwe, and I understand the issues affecting our people,” Mafabi said.

“Once elected, my first priority will be to improve the road network leading to this landing site, as many of you depend on the lake for your livelihood.”

Mafabi also promised to build more schools at the landing site and neighbouring areas, acknowledging that lack of educational infrastructure remains one of the biggest challenges for fishing communities.

He urged residents of Kiyindi and Nkokonjeru to turn out in large numbers and vote, emphasising that voter turnout is the foundation for protecting electoral outcomes.

“We can’t talk about vote rigging or bribery before casting our votes. Please, first go out and vote, then we’ll protect what you’ve voted for,” he emphasised.

In a new tactic, FDC party president Oboi Amuriat opted for a one-on-one mobilisation strategy, engaging directly with residents at every stop, amidst jubilation and celebration.

The official campaign launch will culminate in a major rally at Njeru, where thousands are expected to gather and show their support.
