“Your address will always be your agenda of your differences which is not pleasant to us,” said Eriau.

The Catholic priest of Soroti diocese Koloin Mission Fr. John Eriau has urged the former leading opposition party in the country Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to embrace forgiveness following their party differences that have rocked the party.

Fr. Eriau said that the burial of Sarah Eperu should bring to an end the bickering and fighting that manifested during the burial.

“All is a sunder, torn apart in the party. Instead of serving us your people, a lot of your energy is spent on fighting one another. These wars are costly,” Fr. Eriau said during his sermon.

“Your address will always be your agenda of your differences which is not pleasant to us,” he said.

“If forgiveness is not given a chance by being given and received, then we shall never be able to realize the development,” Fr. Eriau said.

As human beings, we are all imperfect, and so making mistakes occurs and the way forward is for us to ask for forgiveness while we have resolved to correct the mistake.

And on the other side, accept forgiveness but also be ready to correct the mistake identified,” the man of God preached.

The burial of Eperu who died on Sunday of Kidney failure at the age of 61 in Kampala has brought together opposition big shots such as FDC party President Patrick Amuriat, the former FDC party President Dr. Kizza Besigye, Wafula Ogutu, Alice Alaso MP Francis Mwijukye, MP Jonathan Ebwalu, Peter Emigu, Joan Alobo, Stella Apolot Isodo among others.

However, the differences between the party members of FDC came to limelight during the burial as the seating arrangements.

Dr. Besigye with the team of Katonga sat in a different tent while Amuriat was also in a different tent with his team of MPs.

Besigye was been announced as the "chief mourner". Amuriat who arrived in the company of some FDC MPs covered the casket with the party flag.

Immediately after, another team of people putting on FDC T-shirts and overalls removed the flag.

Later Besigye was invited to cover the casket with the FDC party flag, an issue that raised eyebrows from the mourners and the church.

However, MP Mwijukye explained to the media that the Katonga team had been with Eperu because the Najjanakumi team led by Amuriat was not with her.

“During delegates meeting at the party headquarters, Eperu was locked out and her driver arrested. She was humiliated and today I expect Amuriat to apologize to the family of Sarah,” Mwijukye said.

At the time of filing this story, both Amuriat and Besigye had not given their speeches, but emotions were high over who to talk and not to talk.

Fr. Eriau had to decide to bury the body before the two gave their speeches.
