The National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearers in Soroti city were on Wednesday (October 22) duly nominated to contest for parliamentary seats, promising renewed energy, transformation, and a people-centred approach to leadership.
The trio: NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Region David Calvin Echodu (Soroti City West), Sarah Inachu (Soroti City Woman MP), and Isaac Orego (Soroti City East), were nominated by the returning officer, John Olinga.

Speaking moments after his nomination at the Soroti Electoral Commission offices, Echodu expressed excitement and optimism about the race, promising to deliver practical solutions instead of rhetoric.
“I’ve been duly nominated to represent Soroti City West, and I’m very excited to bring new energy to these elections,” Echodu said.
“This new energy is about action, not words. The time for jokers and people who talk without delivering is over. We are bringing transformation and direction for this city,” Echodu, who is set to face opposition from Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Jonathan Ebwalu, said.
He emphasised that leadership requires focus, policymaking, and planning that benefit the people, not mere debate and speeches.

“For a long time, we’ve had leaders who are good at talking but not transforming lives. We are going to change that. I’m ready to work with the people of Soroti City West and the entire city to provide leadership that meets their aspirations,” he added.
As the NRM vice chairperson for eastern Uganda, Echodu’s entry into the Soroti City West race has already energised the party’s base. His nomination drew crowds of yellow-clad supporters who chanted slogans calling for continuity, peace, and development.
Also nominated was Sarah Inachu, who will represent the NRM as the Woman Member of Parliament for Soroti City. Inachu, beaming with gratitude, thanked God and her supporters for standing with her and pledged to be the “voice of the voiceless.”
“My people of Soroti city, I am inspired by the vision to serve you with total commitment, dedication, and integrity,” she declared.
“I bring honesty, accountability, and transparency to leadership,” Inachu said.
Inachu said she is motivated by the NRM’s development agenda and vowed to champion the improvement of health services, infrastructure, and education opportunities in the city.
