Traders under the United Informal Sector Forum (UISF) have made a passionate appeal to President Yoweri Museveni to visit them to know their progress and the challenges they face.
During a gathering at the Old Taxi Park this week, informal sector players, including boda boda riders, market vendors, salon owners, and small-scale manufacturers, implored the President to revisit downtown Kampala, just as he did in 2018.
Their request aims at asking the Government to support them in the form of modern equipment and recognition for their role in Uganda’s economic transformation.

“We are producing quality goods, creating jobs, and supporting local industry. But we’re doing it without modern tools. We need help,” said Rashid Ssekindi, UISF National Coordinator.
The call comes as the group rallies over 2,000 signatures backing President Museveni’s 2026 nomination.
City leaders and traders’ associations have backed the appeal, arguing that a downtown visit would reaffirm the NRM’s support base in Kampala.
