Brig. Gen. (rtd) Emmanuel Rwashande has been nominated by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party to contest for the party flag for Lwemiyaga Constituency, in Ssembabule District.
The Party nominations kicked off officially this week on Tuesday and will run until June 30,2025.
Rwanshande’s nomination heats up the party primaries in Lwemiyaga where he will battle it out with the incumbent Theodore Ssekikubo who has been area MP for 24 years.

After nominations at the party headquarters in Kyadondo, Ssekikubo demanded that the NRM Electoral Commission reject Rwanshande nomination alleging that he did not have the necessary academic qualifications.
“My closest contender Gen. Rwashande who wants to contest for Lwemiyaga has no academic documents. He should instead leave his bodyguards to contest,” Ssekikubo said at the NRM party headquarters at Kyadondo Road, Kampala.
Social media was also flooded with reports that the NRM Electoral Commission had questioned Rwanshande’s academic papers.
However, NRM Party Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi dismissed the reports as false.
“Gen. Rwashande has not yet come for nomination. Neither has he tendered in his documents for verification. I don't know where people get the paper and that heart of malice. Politics is an event; life is a process,” Odoi said.
Accompanied by several supporters, Gen. Rwashande earlier Friday arrived at Kyadondo and was dully nominated. At a subsequent press conference, he vowed to take on Ssekikubo for Lwemiyaga party flag.
