Edward Odong, an independent candidate, has withdrawn from the Laroo–Pece Division Member of Parliament race.

He joins Ceaser Lubangakene, who pulled out of the same race late last month, leaving eight candidates still in contention.

Speaking to Radio Rupiny, Odong said his decision to withdraw followed deep personal reflection.

Mike Jjuuko, the Gulu City Electoral Officer, confirmed that Odong officially withdrew his candidature on December 7, 2025.

The remaining candidates include the incumbent Member of Parliament, Rev. Fr. Charles Onen; Norbert Mao of the Democratic Party, who also serves as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs; Tony Kitara of the National Resistance Movement (NRM); Samuel George Okello of the Democratic Front; Simon Opoka of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC); and Geoffrey Komakech of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

The other candidates are Wilfred Opobo and Charles Odokonyero, both running as independents.
