State Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Industry), David Bahati, has pledged to work with all supporters to ensure President Yoweri Museveni secures a bigger victory margin in the 2026 general elections.
Bahati was declared the winner of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) district seat on May 23, 2025, after garnering 528 votes.

He defeated former Kabale Municipality MP Aja Andrew Baryayanga, who received 48 votes, and Ronald Christmas, who secured just one vote.
Bahati said his re-election reflected continued trust from voters and promised to form a strong team to mobilise support for Museveni.
"I am grateful to God and to the people who have re-elected me. This is an indication that you appreciate what we have done. Again, let us join efforts to work for President Museveni to return to power but with a bigger margin from Kabale,” Bahati told voters at Kabale Municipal Stadium.

The election was conducted by NRM elections officer Badra Ainebyoona, assisted by deputy Medard Ntegyerize.
Other winners included Bridget Asinga, district councillor for Kyanamira Sub-County and Secretary for Finance, who was elected Vice Chairperson.
Philip Zikampereza, a businessman, was elected Secretary for Finance, while Flavia Kanagizi, the District Speaker, was voted General Secretary.

Edison Tutyahabwe was elected publicity secretary, and Kwame Rugunda, son of former prime minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, was elected unopposed as chairperson for the Entrepreneurs’ League.
Major General Timothy Mutebile, a brother to the late former Bank of Uganda Governor Emmanuel Mutebile and former commander of the UPDF Engineering Brigade, was elected chairperson of the Veterans League.
