LIRA - Incumbent Lango cultural institution paramount chief (Won Nyaci) Odongo Okune has eulogised deceased retired Won Nyaci Yosam Odur Ebii and urged the people of Lango to unite and maintain peace as they mourn their former leader.
Ebii passed on in the early hours of November 10, 2025, at Lira University Teaching Hospital. News of his death was first announced by a faction of clan leaders aligned with the Lango Cultural Foundation (LCF), during a press conference at their private offices in Senior Quarters, Lira City East Division.
In an emotional condolence message, Okune says: “I learnt with sadness of the death of our elder, Adwong Yosam Odur Ebii, retired Won Nyaci of Lango”.
“Lango cultural leaders and people remember and hold him dear as the Won Nyaci who steered Lango during the period 2003 to 2024.”
Okune declared a seven-day mourning period starting November 10, during which all cultural activities would be suspended.
“I ask all people of Lango to unite and stay calm during this period and to uphold peace, love, and care for one another,” he added.
“I lift the bereaved family in prayers that the Almighty watches over them. May the soul of the departed rest in eternal peace.”
