Simwogerere new Central Uganda Conference Bishop

Simwogerere was elected on Monday, December 8, 2025, during the forth session of the Central Uganda Conference held at St Juliana School at Gayaza in Wakiso district.

KAMPALA - Pastor David Simwogerere has been elected new Central Uganda Conference Bishop of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Simwogerere takes over from a popular evangelist, Pastor Samuel Kajoba, who was recently elevated to Archbishop of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda.

Simwogerere has served as Kajoba's assistant for barely three weeks. Prior, he was the bishop of North Buganda Field headquartered in Luwero.

He now comes to head the Central Uganda Conference headquartered at Kireka in Wakiso district.

This Conference (diocese) is considered a heavyweight due to the high membership and resources such as schools and a multi-billion referral hospital under construction, among other facilities.

Simwogerere was elected on Monday, December 8, 2025, during the forth session of the Central Uganda Conference held at St Juliana School at Gayaza in Wakiso district.

Pastor Johnson Kalumba becomes the new Executive Secretary, replacing Pr Melczadech Kyeyune, while Rachael Katiti is the new Executive Treasurer. She takes over from Eld Edward Miiro.

Other office bearers for a five-year tenure are Pr Joseph Sembusi (Ministerial), Esther Nsubuga (Women's Ministry), Dunstan Mulumba (Youth), Joseph Namugera (Health), Gofrey Kulumba (Evangelism), Ssali Kisakye ( Education), Perez Teroitich (communication), and Damiano Kato (stewardship).
