His dedicated priestly ministry attracted the attention of Pope Leo XIV, who, as a sign of his deep appreciation, imparted on him an Apostolic Blessing.
The Apostolic Blessing was presented to Fr. Bwangatto by Archbishop Dr Augustine Kasujja, the Apostolic Nuncio, during his priestly silver jubilee celebration at St Mbaaga’s Major Seminary, Ggaba, on August 22, 2025.
“His Holiness Pope Leo XIV sends cordial greetings and warm wishes to Rev. Fr. Ambrose Bwangatto, Priest of the Archdiocese of Kampala, on the occasion of his 25th anniversary of Priestly Ordination.
Entrusting his priestly ministry to the loving protection of Mary, Mother of the Church, the Holy Father willingly imparts his Apostolic Blessing upon him as a pledge of abundant joy, peace and hope in our Lord Jesus Christ,” read the Pontiff’s congratulatory and goodwill message to Bwangatto.

Fr Dr Joseph Sserunjogi.
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, and Emily Kitto Mwaka, head of the laity of Kampala Archdiocese, also commended his service.
In his thanksgiving speech, Fr. Bwangatto paid tribute to his parents, former formators, relatives, friends, benefactors, fellow priests and bishops for their love, support, goodwill and prayers.
