Omona says Museveni will grace Uganda-EU Business Forum

On his part, Omona assured the EU that President Museveni will grace this third edition especially because he values the EU as Uganda’s key trade and investment partner.

The third edition of the Uganda-EU Business Forum will get under way next Tuesday in Uganda's capital Kampala.

One of the largest business meetings in Uganda, the forum is designed for mobilizing investments into Uganda and bolstering Ugandan exports.

It is organized by the European Union (EU) in partnership with the Ugandan government and Private Sector Foundation Uganda.

In the buildup to this three-day meeting (March 5-7), the EU Ambassador to Uganda, Jan Sadek, has paid a courtesy on Dr. Kenneth Omona, the principal private secretary to President Yoweri Museveni.

Their meeting on Tuesday focused on the upcoming business forum as well the President’s participation.

Sadek was accompanied by his deputy, Guillaume Chartrain, and Caroline Adriaensen (head of co-operation).

The ambassador presented the scope of the business forum and outlined preparations for the President’s participation.

Next week's forum will be held at Speke Commonwealth Resort in Munyonyo.

Uganda Investment Authority and the finance and foreign affairs ministries are also co-organizers of the meeting.

The upcoming forum is themed: 'Boosting Trade and Investment: What can Uganda gain from the global gateway?

It is expected to bring together Ugandan and European public and private sector operators to promote trade and investments in transformative sectors that drive Uganda’s economic growth.

On his part, Omona assured the EU that President Museveni will grace this third edition especially because he values the EU as Uganda’s key trade and investment partner. 

Omona said Museveni is passionate about attracting investments to Uganda as well as promoting the country's exports. 

He is optimistic that the forum will showcase Uganda and highlight opportunities to do business with the European Union.

The President's principal private secretary promised to hold regular consultative meetings with the European delegation to Uganda to improve bilateral relations between the two sides.

Dr. Christine Charity Mwebesa (special presidential assistant for economic affairs) Fred Moses Mukhooli (head of State House's Foreign and Diplomatic Affairs Unit) attended Tuesday's meeting.
