Jimmy D. Mugerwa, a seasoned business leader with over 27 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, has been appointed as Norway’s Honorary Consul to Uganda.

This prestigious role highlights his exceptional leadership and extensive network in the region, positioning him as a key figure in fostering stronger diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.

Mugerwa, a Ugandan national, has had a distinguished career, holding senior leadership positions at global energy giants, including Managing Director of Tullow Oil Operations in Uganda and Senior Regional Advisor for sub-Saharan Africa at Royal Dutch Shell.

His expertise in navigating complex business landscapes has also earned him board positions at institutions such as DFCU Bank, East African Breweries Ltd, and the Presidential Investor Roundtable for Oil and Gas.

Beyond the corporate world, Mugerwa is deeply invested in Uganda’s health sector. As Chairperson of the Mengo Hospital Board of Governors, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the hospital’s strategic vision, enhancing healthcare services, and fostering key partnerships to ensure the institution’s sustainability and growth.

His ability to manage large-scale projects and engage stakeholders has been instrumental in driving positive change in the healthcare space.

Mugerwa’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Makerere University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Wales.

Additionally, he has completed executive business leadership programs at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, further reinforcing his expertise in corporate governance and strategic leadership.

In his new role as Honorary Consul, Mugerwa is expected to enhance trade, investment, and cultural exchanges between Uganda and Norway.

His appointment marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations, opening new opportunities for economic cooperation and development.
