Former Buganda minister, Mulira is dead

The prominent Ugandan senior lawyer and former Buganda Kingdom Minister, Peter Mulira, has passed on.

Close family revealed that he died on Friday, May 1, in Kampala.

Buganda Premier Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga said that Mulira, a former minister in charge of the Royal tombs, served the kingdom with dedication.

As a newspaper columnist, Katikiro, in a post on social media X, stated that Mulira was deeply knowledgeable, always taking time to research and write extensively on topics. 

Son of Eridadi Kasirye Mulira and Rebecca Mukasa Mulira, the veteran lawyer, is the elder brother of Dr Ham Mukasa Mulira, the former minister of ICT.

Close friends described his passing as a big blow to the family, which was still mourning the death of his elder son, Paul Lubambula Mulira, who died on February 12, in the USA.

Final respects:

A funeral service will be held at St Paul's Cathedral, Namirembe, on Tuesday, May 5, starting at 10:00am.

Vigil at the family home in Mengo-Bakuli on Tuesday, May 5, starting at 5:00pm.

Burial is set for Wednesday, May 6, at the ancestral home in Masaka at 2:00pm.
