Weekly equities turnover on the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) tumbled 39.95% to sh301.1m from sh501.5m last week, as trading activity slowed.

According to Crested Capital, the total volume exchanged was 1.44 million shares, down from 3.59 million shares traded the previous week.

Umeme led trading activity, accounting for 88.62% of the USE weekly turnover, with a turnover of sh266.9m.

MTN exchanged sh15.1m, Stanbic dealt sh11.4m, Bank of Baroda (BOBU) moved sh7.2m, while Airtel Uganda, Quality Chemicals Industries Limited (QCIL), New Vision Printing & Publishing Company Limited (NVL), and dfcu Limited (DFCU) dealt a combined turnover of about sh372,000.

Only four counters recorded price changes, with BOBU rising 3.03% to sh17, Stanbic gaining 1.31% to sh35.64, and Airtel Uganda and MTN declining 0.63% and 1.73%, respectively.

Cross-listed equities also saw mixed performance, with Equity Group Holdings rising 3.18% and Centum Investments adding 2.98%, while Nation Media Group and KCB Group fell 0.46% and 0.63%, respectively.

The USE All Share Index (ALSI) closed the week 0.60% higher at 1,037.37, while the C11 decreased by 0.52% to 96.14 index points.
