KAMPALA - The head of the State House Investors' Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema, has commended Hajji Muhammad Kamulegeya for being a great National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobiliser, patriot and excellent team leader.

She said that in a short time, Hajji Kamulegeya has created a great impact at Kitebi Secondary School, transforming it into one of the Universal Secondary Education (USE) government model schools in the country.

She said that Kamulegeya was a great patriot and was not surprised that Kitebi SS is the only school featured in the NRM Manifesto.

As a lead promoter of the National Patriotism Training in the country, Kitebi SS recently hosted President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady, Mrs. Janet Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports, for the launch of the 2026-2031 NRM Manifesto.

In return, the First Lady donated a brand-new Scania Bus to the school to help in the transportation of students, whose enrollment is fast growing because of Kamulegeya’s transformational leadership.

In addition to his impact in the education sphere, Nakalema said, Hajji Kamulegeya has been enrolled as an advocate of the high court, adding new skills to his already wide knowledge in education.

Col. Nakalema made the remarks on Thursday evening when she hosted Hajji Kamulegeya with a delegation of friends, workmates and close family members at the SHIPU head office along Lumumba Avenue in Kampala to congratulate him after he was enrolled as an advocate of the High Court. He was accompanied by his father, Hajji Hassan Mugerwa, members of the school board, including the chairperson, Pastor Christian Aliddeki, his deputy Hajji Lubega Wagwa, Dr. Yusuf Nsubuga, an International Educational Consultant and a board member and Sheikh Muhammad Abdunoor Lunanoba, former President General of Juma and Zukuuli Muslim Group.

The ceremony was also attended by his wife, children and a few school staff members.

“We commend Hajji Kamulegeya for being a brilliant team leader who has transformed Kitebi SS, which now boasts over 4500 students and 300 teachers. The NRM government values such leaders who add value to our national development.”

She added, “We congratulate him since he has added his newly acquired skills in the law profession to his abilities in advancing education”.

Col. Nakalema said she had traced Hajji Kamulegeya’s leadership in schools, including Kasana Vocational School, Baale SS, Nabisunsa Girls School, Wakatayi SS, Entebbe Comprehensive SS, Kibuli SS, Kakira High School and now at Kitebi SS where he is known for advocating for unity, transparency, as well as creating wealth.

“Here at SHIPU, we treat you with high regard as a big investor, one who is adding value to our national development,” she stated.

“We treat you as an investment not only in wealth creation but also in educating Uganda’s children and equipping them with knowledge to make their lives better,” she explained and urged him to use his new skills in the law to dispense justice to the underprivileged in society.

Hajji Mugerwa said he was proud that his son was working at a government school and serving diligently, adding that he has been one of the ardent supporters of the NRM government since it came to power in 1986.

“I am happy that my son is working for the government and loves President Museveni. I urge him to continue with this loyalty,” he said.

Kamulegeya commended his mentors, including Hajji Wagwa and Dr Nsubuga, saying their guidance had enabled him to become the first advocate in the family.

He quoted several verses in the Bible, Mathew Chapter 7:20, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalms 107:1, and Mathew 7:7, which he said have similar messages in the Holy Koran, which often guide and encourage him to pursue his dreams.
