Authorities in Nebbi district have urged the communities living along the border with the neighbouring DR Congo to exercise security vigilance.
The Zombo resident district commissioner (RDC), Robert Abak, says the porous border in the sub-counties of Parombo, Erussi, Akworo and Jupangira, exposes the communities to wrong elements who can inflict pain on residents.
The chairperson of Parombo sub-county Lawrence Oketcha says the security committees at parish and village levels should report any unfamiliar faces to the concerned authorities.
He says the strengthening of security at the borders is in the wake of last year’s attack by suspected ADF rebels in which two foreign tourists and their guide were killed in Queen Elizabeth National Park in Kasese district.
