The World Book of Records has awarded six high-profile Ugandans at a ceremony in London for achieving extraordinary feats and demonstrating significant contributions in various fields.

The awardees include Rebecca Kadaga (First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs), Ruth Nankabirwa (energy and mineral development minister) and Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba (Bank of Uganda deputy governor).

Others are Col Edith Nakalema (head of State House Investors Protection Unit), Dr Kisanja Hillary Musoke (private secretary to the President for youth, agriculture, value addition, and export promotion) and Nelson Tugume (chief executive officer of Inspire Africa Group).

The ceremony, which saw the awardees presented with certificates of excellence, was held at the UK Parliament in the Palace of Westminster on September 13, 2025.

World Book of Records, which is an organisation that catalogues and verifies extraordinary records across the world with authentic certification in the UK and Europe, hosted a luncheon for the awardees in the Members Dining Room at the House of Commons.

The luncheon was presided over by Conservative peer and donor Lord Rami Ranger, according to Nuwagaba, who was awarded for his exemplary contributions to education, community service, health advocacy, and inclusive socio-economic development in Uganda.

Nuwagaba was an international consultant on economic transformation before he was appointed Bank of Uganda deputy governor in February this year.

Nankabirwa, who attended the ceremony alongside other Ugandan officials during the UK-Africa Business Summit 2024, a platform that brings together business leaders from East and Southern Africa to engage with UK investors and partners, said, “This recognition celebrates my efforts in advancing sustainable progress in Uganda.”

“I dedicate this honour to all Ugandans whose resilience and commitment inspire our journey toward inclusive development,” she said.

World Book of Records’ primary objective and goal is to “record, honour, list and appreciate, authenticate and adjudicate events which can be termed as activities of world standard”.

Since its inception in the year 2017, it has spread its wings and it is working with global presence in Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia.

Nakalema, who is also a senior presidential advisor, was awarded for her tireless commitment to a corruption-free Uganda, inspiring integrity in young people, championing youth empowerment, and advancing agribusiness opportunities for community development and national transformation.
