The First Lady’s office, in partnership with the Mantle of Deborah Global from Nigeria, is calling on women from Africa and Uganda to join them in the builder’s Christian conference.

The event is aimed at uplifting and growing the faith of women to conquer their challenges in this ever-changing and uncertain environment.

Over 1,000 women from Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and other African countries are expected to attend the Mantle of Deborah event at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The Christian gathering that happens a day after Women’s Day celebrations is focused on empowering women.

“When you train a woman, you educate a nation,” Irene Kauma, the under-secretary and senior private secretary to First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Mrs Janet Museveni, said while addressing journalists at Vision Group’s Chief Executive Officer's boardroom on March 7, 2024.

Kauma, who was flanked by the Rev. Harriet Nyamu, the lead Mantle of Deborah East Africa, called on women to rise to the occasion.

Pastor Isi Igenegba from Nigeria will be the guest speaker and is expected to share testimonies she has encountered and share projects currently underway in Africa to uplift women.

Igenegba is already involved in non-profit endeavors through Deborah’s Impact Projects Africa which was set up to socially, economically, and spiritually elevate the lives of African women in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and North America.

In Kenya, Igenegba has acquired 10 acres in the coastal region of Malindi, which will be used to create a transformative hub where young girls subjected to early childhood marriages are rescued, a specialised vocational training school and a maternal care centre will cater to the less privileged.

Kauma said the gathering is based on the foundation of the Bible book of Judges from chapters four and five which captures Deborah as a Judge, mother, wife, and a prophetess who goes out of her way to help the nation of Israel come out of oppression from its enemies.

“All kinds of women from corporates, wives, grassroots women, and men are welcome to the gathering,” Kauma added.

Nyamu narrated how the book of Judges had a reign of terror by a Man called Sisera who was commanding an unimaginable cruel hand for 20 years against Israelites.

“There is oppression in families on women themselves. This is the time for women to go beyond being wives and when women arise with deeper revelation, men are challenged!” Nyamu said.

The chapters in Judges end with the oppressive commander called Sisera dead revealing how God had subdued the bad leadership to save the Israelis.

“There lay Sisera with the tent peg through his temple—dead,” the scripture partly reads.
