Woman survives being hacked by husband

BUIKWE - Rebecca Twefiliza, a mother of three children has survived death after her husband Grace Tenywa, 32, assaulted her with a knife.

The incident happened at Namanyonyi village, Najjembe division in Buikwe district.

Eyewitness Fatumah Nakazibwe, a sister to the victim revealed that the husband approached Twefiliza who was together with her (Nakazibwe) and asked his wife where she was coming from and heading.

That before answering, Tenywa started cutting Rebecca with a knife and this prompted her to make an alarm, attracting community members who rescued her.

The husband who was at Kitigoma Police post alleged that his wife has a lot of men and she's ever committing adultery and she has often been lying to him and one time he caught her red-handed with another man in Bulenga in Wakiso district.

Tenywa also accused the wife of having sexually transmitted diseases and she has been spreading them to all her alleged love partners. Tenywa confirmed that he wanted to kill the wife who is also the mother of his three biological children.

Twefiliza who is at St. Francis Hospital Nyenga in pain denied her husband’s allegations of her committing adultery and having many love partners saying they are all lies. She explained that the husband has not been allowing her to work.

Rebecca also explained that she has been the head of the family since the husband has not been working and is the one who has been fulfilling all the family needs, however, she asked the public to aid her with resources and also to clear the hospital bills since she is no longer working.

Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa region publicist, confirmed the incident adding that the two people are receiving treatment in different hospitals but Tenywa will be charged with attempted murder after recovering from the wounds.

Butoto urged all couples to always take their complaints and misunderstanding to Police before committing any offence.
