One of the Tuesday, June 3, 2025, blast victims, whom the Uganda army has identified as terrorists, was a woman, Uganda People's Defence Forces acting spokesperson Chris Magezi has said.
Magezi says the 'female was a suicide bomber laden with powerful explosives'.
The revelation in an X, formerly Twitter, post today was a follow-up on an earlier statement that the army had this morning neutralised two terrorists in Munyonyo, a Kampala city suburb.
The Tuesday, June 3, 2025, incident that had earlier been reported as a bomb blast by local media was an intelligence-led operation, according to acting army spokesperson Chris Magezi.
"A UPDF counter-terrorism unit this morning intercepted and neutralised two armed terrorists in Munyonyo, an upscale city suburb. It was an intelligence-led operation, and the security services are on heightened alert to ensure the Martyrs Day celebrations proceed without disruption".
Magezi urged the public to remain calm but vigilant and report to the security services any suspicious individuals, objects or activities for immediate attention.
This revelation is contained in a statement posted on Magezi's X, formerly Twitter, account today, June 3, 2025.
