Witch-doctor who stole sh50m from shrine sentenced to three years in prison

Citing the law, Magistrate Gukiina said: “I therefore find the accused persons guilty of the offence of shrine breaking, which contravenes the Penal Code Act, and I find the accused persons guilty of the offence of theft, which contravenes the Penal Code Act. I accordingly convict them of the same as per the Magistrates' Courts Act.”

Additionally, the court ordered the convicts to pay sh35m each to Nsikonene, amounting to sh70m in compensation, to recover part of the stolen money and cover damages incurred in pursuing the case. (Credit: Charles Jjuuko)

MUKONO - The Nakifuma Magistrates’ Court in Mukono district has sentenced three men to prison after they pleaded guilty to breaking into a shrine and stealing sh50m.
