Major General Hussein Ada, who until his retirement in June 2018, was the Camp Commandant of Bombo Army Barracks.

Major General Ada was among the 11 longest-serving UPDF generals the army retired in 2018, the first retirement function where the UPDF retired that number of generals at the same time.

Prominent among those retired about the same period are: Major General Kasirye Gwanga, who was at that time the presidential advisor on Security in the central region, Major General Ali Kiiza, former chief presidential pilot, and Major General Joshua Masaba, the presidential advisor on Air Force matters. Plus Brigadier Generals, Jacob Musajjawaza, Yowasi Kiiza, Stephen Othieno, Olanya Ojara and Mark Kodili Ayiasi.

Major General Ada, who survived through Army ranks from Idi Amin’s regime before joining the NRA fighters, is much treasured for his diligent service to the nation.

Major General Ada had served the army for 55 years before his retirement in June 2018.

Until his death, Major General Ada, who hails from Obongi District, has been among the four surviving generals from the West Nile region.

Others are the second Deputy Prime Minister, General Moses Ali, Major Michael Ondoga, former Head of UPDF contingent to Somalia, now the operation Wealth Creation coordinator for West Nile, and Major General Dick Olum, who now serves as the head of the South Sudan Stabilisation mechanism.

Maj. Gen. Adda joined the army in 1963, a year after Independence and served through the Obote, Idi Amin and President Yoweri Museveni regimes until he retired from the UPDF in June 2018.
