The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has tasked the accountant profession to weed out those bad elements that facilitate fraud.
"I call upon you to jealously protect your profession by denouncing and weeding out wrong elements who engage in fictitious accounting and facilitation of fraud," he said.
He was on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, presiding over the 18th Annual Internal Audit Conference organized by the Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda at Speke Resort Munyonyo
He noted that in line with the theme "Arise and Elevate the Impact," the conference aimed at facilitating learning and sharing experiences among auditors.
"Auditors help us legislators fulfill our core mandate of oversight. They are our enablers and partners in fighting corruption and strengthening governance, risk management, and control processes," he added.
