Uganda’s beauty was on display as the Chinese ambassador to Uganda, HE Zhang Lizhong, on Friday concluded a three-day tour of different tourism sites in western Uganda.

Accompanied by his wife, Lin Yagun, and the minister of tourism, wildlife and antiquities, Col (rtd ) Tom Butime, the ambassador visited the Sempaya Hot springs in Semuliki National Park in Bundibugyo district, where he had a chance to boil some eggs in the ‘female’ hot springs, whose temperature goes up to 100 degrees Centigrade.

They also visited Kibaale Nantonal Park in Kamwenge, where they participated in chimpanzee tracking as well as the Rwenzori Mountains National Park in Kasese. He urged the Chinese community living in Uganda to take time off their busy schedule to experience Uganda’s natural beauty. (Photos by Moses Nsubuga)

Elsewhere, one animal did not have much time to sit around snacking, but had to work. Following a terror warning from the UK embassy in Uganda, security personnel were on high alert this week.  As officials kept an eye on security in the capital city, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) kept an eye on hygiene, working with Police to impound over 80 animals from the city's streets. The animals, which included cattle and goats, were impounded in the city suburbs of Bwaise, Kalerwe, Kyebando, among other areas. Hakim Lubega the head of the KCCA enforcement team said the operation was intended to keep the city clean. Apart from littering, the animals cause traffic hold-ups and accidents. The animals were taken to Nakawa collection Centre, awaiting any claimants who will face court charges. (Photo by Eria Luyimbazi)

In Wakiso district, a land row sent former district councillor Lincoln Luwagga to his knees. Luwagga was pleading with the state minister for lands, Dr Sam Mayanja (left), to save his aunt, Maria Kabejja one of several people whose houses were demolished in a land row at Kakunyu in Wakiso district. Dr. Mayanja visited the scene on Wednesday and ordered the reinstatement of people who had been victims of an illegal eviction. (Photo by Job Nantakiika)
