Vision Group pays tribute to founder at Harvest Money Expo

The 10th edition of the Harvest Money Expo has been marked by reflection, tribute and renewed calls to turn farming into a profitable business, with Vision Group leaders honouring the late Patrick Luganda, the man credited with planting the seed that grew into one of Uganda’s largest agricultural exhibitions.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Saturday, February 28, 2026, Vision Group Chief Executive Don Wanyama said the expo, now in its 10th year, traces its roots to a newspaper column titled Harvest Money, written by Patrick Luganda. In it, Luganda guided farmers on how to earn from agriculture.
Over time, the concept evolved into a full-scale exhibition bringing together farmers, suppliers, experts and policymakers.
“When we wanted the name for the Expo, we took up the name of the column because it captured the spirit of our goal to get more people doing agriculture as a business and profiting from it,” Wanyama said.
He said the idea behind the Expo was born out of a desire to change mindsets and encourage Ugandans to see farming as a business.
“To start Harvest Money Expo, Vision Group was motivated by the opportunity to change mindsets among Ugandans and make farming a profitable business,” he said.
A minute of silence was observed during the ceremony in honour of Luganda, who died during the COVID-19 pandemic.
