UPDF, senior Police officer to appear before Court Martial over lawyer murder

The General Court Martial (GCM) at Makindye in Kampala is slated to charge six people for having allegedly caused the death of lawyer Ronnie Mukisa.

Mukisa was gunned down on May 30, 2023, at 11:00 pm while at his home in Kitiko-Birongo, Ndejje division, Wakiso district.

Preliminary investigations have since revealed that Mukisa was killed over allegations that he swindled $1m (about shillings 3.7 billion) from his business partners, who are among the suspects.

According to the GCM cause list dated July 3, 2023, suspects: Corporal Geoffrey Mark Anyesa, Sergeant Rashid Ayup Okot, and Robert Irama Kareodu are on Monday afternoon set to appear before the GCM chaired by Brig. Gen Freeman Mugabe to plea on charges of Mukisa’s murder.

Other co-accused include Mzee Jesabat Hayeza, Superintendent of Police Vincent Irama Urri and Cathy Brenda Nalwoga.
