Learners at the Uganda Christian University (UCU) have been advised to embrace networking as one way to succeed in life.

According to experts, building strong networks while at university, will help learners to expand their chances of succeeding in whatever they do.

Addressing the congregation at which UCU management was giving thanks to God over the recent performance at Law Development Center (LDC) by their alumni, Dr Peter Mutesasira, the dean of the university's law school, said due to the networks students create, their performance has improved drastically.

He noted that this has been made possible through the sharing of reading materials and organising discussions.

"The networks you build in schools are the ones that matter. We have had our learners excel at LDC because of the connections they build while here," Mutesasira said on Thursday.

During the recent graduation at LDC, students who had graduated from UCU were among the best performers.

Out of the total number of 130 first-class students from the entire graduation, at least 85 had gone through UCU’s law school. The rest, according to the list, are from across the universities.

Among the first classes, the top four were all from UCU. The nine include Emmanuel Okia with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.90, Shamira Kitimbo with 4.80, Reagan Ahumuza with 4.75 and Jemimah Jehopio with a CGPA of 4.70.

Others are Ernest Ayesiga with a 4.55, Samuel Odiye with a 4.50, Josephine Namagembe with a 4.40, and Martha Uwizeye with 4.40.

University vice-chancellor Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi said the ceremony was intended to not only thank God but also inspire the continuing students.

"We shall renovate the buildings and also gift the School of Law with a new van. This is in commemoration and celebration of the incredible performance," Mushengyezi said.
