Students from different universities, who subscribe to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, have endorsed President Yoweri Museveni's sole candidature in the 2026 presidential polls.
They say President Museveni is still energetic and can still deliver as he has before. The students add that age does not matter as long as one still has the capability and is inspiring young people to become leaders.
The student leaders cited China's president Xi Jinping who has ruled for two terms, but recently the term limits were scrapped to keep him in power believing that he can deliver and push the economic dreams of the country.

Students under their umbrella NRM University Chapter of Kyambogo, Makerere, King Caesar, Kampala University and Kampala International University (KIU) all endorse Museveni.
According to the students, Uganda is the most peaceful nation in Africa and all this is a contribution of President Museveni.
“We just have to appreciate President Museveni for what he has done. We should all be happy and ask him to stand come 2026. There is no way we can lose such a commendable leader,” Bernard Katanzi, the incoming chairperson for Kampala International University, NRM student chapter, said.
The endorsement was at KIU, Kampala campus in Kansanga on Sunday where students belonging to the NRM chapter were celebrating 10 years of existence.

Outgoing chairperson Bosco Tumuramye said Uganda is in safe hands as long as Present Museveni is in the driving seat.
He reasoned that even when the youth are still faced with unemployment that could be a question to be answered by everyone who feels the concern.
Regulating politics among students
However, Tumuramye said students need to be regulated when it comes to politics because it defines future leaders of the nation and failing to nurture them accordingly could spoil their lifetime.
He made the remark when he was asked if it is important to ban political parties from universities.
“Mobilise the young people rather than banning political parties from universities,” he said.
Patrick Obura, who represented NRM deputy secretary general Rose Namayanja advised students to not only focus on politics but find better alternatives to getting better grades if they are to change their ways of life.
Namayanja said youth have a great contribution towards the economic development of a country only if they are supported to perform well in academic research. This, according to her, would aid them to make well thought decisions.
The function attracted different people including officials from the NRM Office of National Chairperson, NRM chairperson Mitoma Wilberforce Muhangi and Boniface Henry Okot, the Northern Region Youth Member of Parliament and patron of KIU NRM Chapter, among others.
