Ugandan Rotarians get group funeral cover

Rotary Uganda members are set to benefit from a tailored funeral insurance cover. The cover specifically created for Rotary Districts 9213 and 9214 is expected to provide an affordable and fully digital group funeral cover.

A funeral cover provides for benefits payable on death for any of the lives on cover or the provision of a funeral service to a deceased member upon notification.

Providing money for funeral expenses means those who remain don't have to pay or pay a fraction for unexpected expenses that could drain their savings or put them in debt.

The development follows a partnership between Old Mutual and Rotary Uganda.
Speaking at the official announcement at Four Points by Sheraton on Friday, June 20, 2025, Old Mutual Life Assurance managing director Patrick Kimathi said the partnership with Rotary Uganda is a key strategic partner in helping 'us achieve our sustainability goal to build strong and prosperous communities, running a sustainable business and protecting the planet'.

The Group Funeral Cover provides our members with a dignified solution that brings peace of mind, while strengthening the bonds of solidarity across the Rotary fraternity,” she said.

The Group Funeral Cover has been designed to provide Rotarians and their families with critical financial support in the unfortunate event of bereavement.

With annual premiums ranging from shillings 95,000 to 250,000, the product ensures every Rotarian can access affordable protection that provides peace of mind and financial stability.

This initiative also marks the beginning of a broader collaboration between Old Mutual Life Assurance and Rotary Uganda. As part of this partnership, Old Mutual pointed out that it is committed to actively supporting several Rotary initiatives, including the Rotary Cancer Run, basic literacy programmes, financial literacy campaigns and tree planting projects.
