Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, currently in New York City for the forum on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has called for an urgent need to address Africa's $1.6 trillion financing gap by 2030.
Delivering a report on the African regional perspectives on SDG implementation, Nabbanja stressed the essential need for leadership and governance reforms, financing and partnerships, which are critical.
According to Nabbanja, investing in youth, women, and digital transformation is urgent on top of health and social protection prioritisation.

A release from her office states that Nabbanja stressed that economic transformation and job creation must be accelerated.
"Let us rise to this defining moment by building a united, inclusive, and resilient Africa. Let us honour the voices from Kampala, and across the continent, by translating commitments into action. Together, we can build the Africa and world we want, which is prosperous, peaceful, and sustainable," the Prime Minister stated, according to a release from her office.
On the sidelines, Nabbanja had engagements with different leaders.
They included her counterpart from Finland, Petteri Orpo, with whom she discussed issues of mutual benefit of Uganda and Finland. Her office revealed that a number of issues were discussed at the meeting.
These include: Digital infrastructure technological transfer, benchmarking on Finland’s progress on SDGs implementation and education improvement.
Nabbanja also held talks with Lord Collins of Highbury, the British minister for Africa, the UN, the Commonwealth and Human Rights.
During a different engagement, Nabbanja met Boris Titov, a special representative of the President of the Russian Federation.
"The dual discussed matters of beneficial interest between the two countries," reads the statement from the OPM press team.
