ADDIS ABABA - Uganda and Ethiopia have strengthened their longstanding partnership during a meeting between their foreign affairs ministers.
Ethiopia's Gedion Timothewos and Uganda's state minister Okello Oryem met on February 10, 2026, at the foreign affairs ministry in Addis Ababa.
This was on the sidelines of the ongoing 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union Heads of State and Government and the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which is running from February 10-15, 2026.

Both sides, according to a social media post from Ethiopia's foreign affairs ministry, also exchanged views on regional and continental peace and security issues of mutual concern.
Timothewos emphasised the strong bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Uganda, highlighting the two countries’ longstanding partnerships. He further noted the significant role both nations play in promoting peace and stability in the region.
The Minister also underscored the importance of continuing co-operation in areas of mutual benefit, aiming to enhance collaboration in a manner that serves the peoples of both countries.
Oryem underscored that the two countries play key roles in the region and that they have established a strong relationship at the highest leadership level.

He reiterated his country’s commitment to further strengthening the multifaceted cooperation with Ethiopia.
