KAMPALA - The countdown to the Season Three finale of the Ultimate University Quiz is officially on, with four universities gearing up for a decisive weekend of semi-final showdowns.
Uganda Christian University (UCU), Gulu University, Ndejje University and Busitema University have all powered through earlier stages, and now the competition narrows to two coveted final slots ahead of the grand finale on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
According to Max Adii, the project lead of the Ultimate University Quiz, this weekend marks one of the most anticipated phases of the tournament.
Saturday, November 22, will see UCU take on Gulu University, an encounter that brings together two heavyweight teams with something to prove.
UCU, which finished second in the first season, has displayed renewed determination this year.
Adii noted that the Mukono-based institution is eager to show how far it has evolved since its early appearances.
“Uganda Christian University will want to prove that they have matured, they have come of age and they deserve the title,” he said.
However, UCU’s ambitions collide directly with Gulu University’s mission to defend the crown. Last year’s champions have maintained solid form, and Adii emphasised that Gulu University will be chasing nothing short of a back-to-back victory.
The meeting between the two, he added, is expected to be a “big fight,” with both sides fully aware of the stakes.
Ndejje University vs Busitema
Sunday, November 23, brings its own intensity as Ndejje University faces Busitema University in the semi-finals. Ndejje has been a standout in this season.
Making their debut, they have swept through every match with an impressive string of victories. Adii praised their consistent performance, noting that Ndejje has “really come with a big force.”
Busitema University, on the other hand, enters the semi-finals carrying years of persistence.
Despite featuring in the quiz since season one, this is the first time they have reached this level of the competition. Adii acknowledged their long journey, saying the team has shown strong improvement and will be eager to fight their way into the finals.
Sunday’s match will air at 7:30 pm on all Vision Group TV channels, and is expected to attract strong viewership as both universities chase a historic spot in Thursday’s finale.
The winners from both matches will advance to the Season Three grand finale, where they will compete for cash prizes and learning materials.
