Police and other security agencies have been deployed in Tara sub-county in Maracha district following deadly clashes during a disco dance on Monday night (November 24, 2025), which claimed two lives and destroyed several items.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of youth from Mabira trading centre, allegedly mobilised by one Inno, in reprisal attacks destroyed valuables at Paraniki hall and at nearby places.
The revenge attack follows an incident in January this year where a hall at Kololo trading centre belonging to Inno was razed after he allegedly defied community advice not to organise a disco dance on the fateful day when the community was mourning the passing on of a prominent elder from the Orionzi clan.
Sources indicate that plans by a youth group to burn down Paraniki hall and destroy more properties was foiled on November 24, 2025, night after some community members mobilised and overpowered the attackers.
The deceased have been identified as William Abindu, a resident of Olua village, Pajama parish in Tara sub-county and Denis Abima of Rodre village, Aringa parish in the neighbouring Ajira sub-county.
The chairperson of Tara sub-county, Aquilino Obega, confirmed the incident. He said the Police have launched investigations to bring the perpetrators of the violence to book.
