Two people have died in a road crash that occurred on Friday morning at Amuca SDA on the Lira–Kamdini highway, Police in the North Kyoga region said.

The crash, reported at around 11am, involved three vehicles: a sedan (UA 899BD), commuter taxi (UBR 493D) and a motorcycle (UFG 387U).

A preliminary report indicated that both the car and motorcycle were travelling from the Kamdini side toward Lira City.

Upon reaching the Ebenezer University junction, the driver of the car reportedly made a sudden turn onto the road leading to the university without giving any signal.

The motorcycle rider, who was following closely behind, rammed into the rear of the vehicle, causing both the rider and his passenger to fall onto the road.

A speeding taxi approaching from the opposite direction then ran over the two victims, killing them instantly.

North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the incident, describing it as avoidable and tragic.

Traffic officers visited the scene, documented the crash, and transported the bodies to Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The three vehicles were towed to Lira–City West Division yard pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles.

According to Okema, the identities of the deceased had not yet been established by the time of reporting.
