Police in Budaka district are investigating the drowning of two brothers who were swept away by a stream in Nalugondo village, Tademere subcounty.
The incident, which occurred on September 17, 2025, claimed the lives of 14-year-old Denis Mbulambago and his younger brother, seven-year-old Pison Christopher Mbulambago.
According to police, the brothers had gone swimming with their 13-year-old friend, Kulaila, when tragedy struck. Pison entered the water first but was overwhelmed by the current. Denis jumped in to rescue him, but both were swept away.
Kulaila rushed to alert their parents, who mobilised divers. By evening, only Denis’s body had been recovered and taken to hospital for a postmortem. The search for Pison’s body is still ongoing.

He cautioned parents to monitor children closely near water sources, especially during the rainy season.
