Moses Walugembe, a top Uganda Police Force spy and operational officer attached to the Police Flying Squad Unit, has died, a highly placed source in the Force has confirmed to New Vision Online.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the officer’s rented home is in Najjanankumbi in Kampala city.
Details surrounding the cause of death remain unclear at this time.
“This is a sensitive matter, but I can confirm that he has passed on,” the source told New Vision Online this morning (September 3, 2025).
By press time, senior Police officials had not yet issued an official statement.
Youth affairs state minister Balaam Barugahara also posted on social media announcing Walugembe's death, who he said was a patriotic and dedicated police officer.
"Afande Musa Walugembe, who was serving with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU)... passed away peacefully in his sleep cause of death unknown."
According to Barugahara, Walugembe was also a man of unwavering integrity, "Musa was known for his kindness, humility, and trustworthiness throughout his service. He was not only a distinguished officer but also a prince of Buganda from Nakifuma, whose legacy of loyalty and service to Uganda will forever be remembered. As a government and as a nation, we mourn the loss of a true servant of the people. Uganda has lost a brave soul who served with honour and dedication".
