Three children have been confirmed dead, and another is fighting for his life after allegedly being poisoned by their father.
On the evening of August 2, 2025, residents of Ngogoma village, Kinogozi parish, Kikuube district, were left in shock after a 45-year-old man, identified as Wilson Kiiza, reportedly poisoned all four of his children for unknown reasons.
Two of the children were confirmed dead on arrival at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital on Saturday evening, while the third passed away today, Sunday. One child remains in critical condition.
The deceased children, all pupils at Hoima Public School, have been identified as Solomon Asaba (P5), Wilson Asinguza (P1), and Asaba Solomon. Happy Atugonza is still battling for his life.
Joyce Kansiime, a neighbour, said the children's mother lives in Hoima town, where she sells fried cassava at Hoima Public School. At the time of the incident, the children were at home with their father.
She added that both the children and their father were rushed to the hospital after consuming the suspected poison and that their father remains in a critical condition.
"We are also waiting for the report by the police, but the children were playing normally throughout the day until their father returned in the afternoon," she said.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine regional police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said that investigations had commenced.
By press time, relatives of the deceased had started collecting the bodies from Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for burial at Ngogoma village.
