Three armed robbers raided a series of shops near St Peter Catholic Church in Kanyanya, Kawempe Division, on the night of January 10, 2025, making off with an unspecified amount of cash.
The robbers, armed with pistols, targeted various shops, including mobile money outlets, at approximately 10:50 pm.
As nearby residents attempted to intervene by throwing stones, the attackers fired a bullet into the air to disperse the crowd before fleeing the scene.
The incident has been registered under reference number SD 50/10/01/2025.
Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspects.
Matugga robbery
Meanwhile, the Police in Kasangati Division, Wakiso district, are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the early hours of January 11, 2025, at around 3:00 am.
Unidentified gunmen raided shops on Semuto Road in Sanga, Matugga, stealing cash and other valuables.
Details surrounding the robbery remain under investigation, with police confirming that crime scene operations were still ongoing.
