To appreciate esteemed customers, mainly from the Small and Medium Enterprises segment, Uganda's leading daily, Vision Group, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, hosted them to a scrumptious breakfast at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

This marked the closer of the Customer Appreciation Week. The company has been celebrating customer loyalty over the last one week (starting March 19, 2024) appreciating the journey it has walked on the shoulders of customers.

“For the last 38 years, we have learnt many lessons and keep on applying them to improve our offering and services to the customers. But we would not be here to celebrate this milestone success without you,” the chief executive officer (CEO) Don Wanyama said.

During the event, Vision Group got feedback from its clients as it shared available business and partnership opportunities. The event climaxed with the cutting of the cake to celebrate the landmark achievements the company has registered over the last 38 years.

He said the company can not take for granted the contribution of its customers over the last 38 years of existence and will thus continue to take feedback which has driven its good performance.

Wanyama said the company will continue to innovate to improve customer experience and service delivery.

The Vision Group CEO stated that through innovations such as Harvest Money and Home and Construction expos, a multitude of customers have benefited greatly from the company over the years.

Wanyama observed that media spaces have become fragmented and competitive, noting that there are over 300 radio stations and 50 television stations in the country.

“Amidst competition, your support has ensured we stay number one. We do not take it for granted. We as Vision Group pride ourselves around one thing; professionalism,” the Vision Group CEO stated.

Wanyama said the company was committed to professionalism and continuity with what customers expect of them. “We promise you value for money when you come and deal with us.”

Vision Group's head of marketing, Lorraine Tukahirwa disclosed that 38 years ago, Vision Group started as a single newspaper, but along the way, it managed to grow until it became Uganda’s leading media company.

She said Vision Group is already diversifying into other forms of media to satisfy the demand for media consumption from its customers across the country.

Tukahirwa revealed that Vision Group has introduced advertising with the latest innovation, Vision Outdoor.

“We continue to diversify. When you talk about the traditional newspaper, we are diversifying into other media," she said.

Tukahirwa said for any success strategy, you need to understand your target audience and get feedback from them, to grow as a company.

Customers speak out

The customers commended Vision Group for its exceptional innovations especially the Harvest Money and Home and Construction expos, which they said should be expanded to the East African region to optimise their value to the wananchi.

Oscar Kamukama, the business development manager at Steel and Tube Industries, said Ugandans have benefitted much from the knowledge acquired from the expo every year and has helped them to improve their business operations and grow profitability.

“We have derived a lot of visibility and mileage through the expos. We are so happy with what Vision Group has done for us,” he lauded.

Patrick Atisa, the managing director of A&S Electronics Limited, lauded Vision Group for its growth despite Uganda’s economy being hit hard and competition from other media houses. He encouraged Vision Group to continue rewarding loyalty to its clients.

He thanked Vision Group for the tender and contracting adverts, saying it is prompting them to buy Newspapers daily.

Sandip Khatter, the Asia Agro Industries Uganda Limited director, said Vision Group should always update them on the innovations and developments within the company so that they can do business with it.
