The districts of Kapelebyong, Soroti and Katakwi are among the latest districts in Teso that have received a consignment of essential materials ahead of the 11th National Housing and Population Census.
The May 02, package from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics include: computers (tablets) chargers, power banks, T-shirts, and bags among others.
The delivery of these materials comes at a time when census supervisors and enumerators nationwide are undergoing one week’s training before the census, which is scheduled to commence on May 10, 2024.
Emmanuel Opio, the communication officer of Kapelebyong district says that the timely distribution of these materials is crucial to ensuring a seamless execution of the census, which aims to collect accurate and reliable data on Uganda’s population and housing.
The Soroti district communication officer Abraham Ekwaru notes that the program is on course, urging Ugandans to remain at home for efficient counting since it has been declared a public holiday.
He appealed to leaders at all levels to mobilize their communities to support and participate in the census which is set to commence on the night of May 9, 2024.
