Police say they have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a teenage girl whose decomposing body was discovered in Musaale Swamp, Namulaba Village, Kyampisi sub-county in Mukono district.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says the body was found today, November 13, 2025, morning by residents who immediately alerted Naggalama Police Station.

He explained in a statement that the deceased was found dressed in a navy-blue student skirt labelled “Nanyonga VII,” indicating that she could have been a student.

“The school is yet to be identified, but our officers are engaging nearby institutions to establish whether they have any missing learners,” Owoyesigyire added.

Some parents have since approached Police claiming the body could be that of their daughter, who reportedly went missing on November 1, 2025.

However, investigators say the identity of the victim will only be confirmed after a DNA test is conducted, as the body was already decomposing at the time of recovery.

“The body was in an advanced state of decomposition. We have advised parents claiming the deceased to wait for DNA results before any confirmation is made,” Owoyesigyire stated.

The body has since been conveyed to the city mortuary for postmortem as detectives pursue leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.
